Introduction
As you are probably visiting this site as a K-Pop fan, you must often see search for English subbed videos online. You might wonder to yourself, "I'm glad these subbers exist! What would I do without them? Can I do this too?" And that is exactly what this site is meant to do. This site will train you to become a highly time-efficient, accurate subber that contributes to ones' fandom, rather than simply lingering without a use.
So...do I have what it takes?
Well, let's see!
If you don't have time, don't sub!
Subbing takes an enormous amount of time. Timing and typesetting a 1-hour long episode of a TV program can take up an individual's entire week, probably even two. And not just a few minutes a day, we're talking hours a day.
If you don't know any Korean, at least learn the basics if you want to sub!
It also helps immensely, and I mean immensely, if the subber has proficiency in Korean. For example, in order to match the speech when timing, it helps a great deal if you know a bit of Korean to pick up those key words and confirm that this is indeed the matching translation. When typesetting, it helps if you can distinguish which part of the Korean captions are one colour and which are the other.
You should have good-ish internet speed.
You'll need that speed to download the videos you'll be subbing. So at least make sure it doesn't take an entire day to download a video.

You will need: Aegisub, and VirtualDub. You will need a video downloading software (Freemake or DVDVideoSoft) if you are to download the video from a video streaming site (e.g Youtube, Dailymotion)
OK. Now what?
So say you've downloaded everything you need, now what?
Download your video in .avi format. Your video must be in .avi format or else it cannot be encoded! Create a new Aegisub file or open up Aegisub. Open the video in Aegisub by dragging the file or by going to the top bar: Video > Open Video. Open the video's audio by going to the top bar: Audio > Open Audio From Video. |
