Let's time!
Timing Speech
Timing speech requires much less effort than captions. Most of the time, I tend to estimate the duration of the speech, so don't worry too much about the accuracy of timing speech. Method One: Manual - With this method, you enter the values of the start and end of the line manually by estimating. This method is quick, but often time requires editing because of its lack of accuracy. Method Two: Play and Stop - This method involves simply playing the video preview and stopping it when you hear the line end. From there, you can enter the value manually or click the red-hooked rectangle (Set end of current subtitles to current video Frame). This method is more accurate and also quick. Sometimes, I time speech with the audio preview bar. By sliding the bar around, you can edit the start and end of the line. Usually I only do this to make edits, but you could try timing with it too. Timing Captions
For timing captions, I like being very, very accurate, so follow me if you will. 1. Use the arrow keys on your keyboard to move the video frame by frame. 2. Find the exact frame the captions begin 3a. Manually type in the start time (Edit Bar 1) OR 3b. Click the "Set start of current subtitles to current video frame" button (Green hooked rectangle - Tools Bar) 4. Find the exact frame the captions end 5a. Manually type in the end time (Edit Bar 1) OR 5b. Click the "Set end of current subtitles to current video frame" button (Red hooked rectangle - Tools Bar) |
