Inserting Lines
A quicker and more efficient way of timing is the Copy/Paste Insert Line Technique. With this technique, you do not copy and paste all your translations when you first begin the document, but rather copy/paste them in one by one once you have the blank line timed.
For example, you time the first caption and notice another caption appears right after it. Using the "Insert (after)" command, you can automatically time the start of the caption correctly and time the end with the "Set end to current frame". Another extremely useful action is the "Insert at video time (after)" command. By using the arrow keys to find the frame where the next caption appears, you can insert the line automatically at the right time with this action. |
Better Hotkey Bindings
If you haven't noticed yet, many actions in Aegisub have hotkeys. However, not all of them are easy to access.
That's why there is a method of which you can bind your own hotkeys to your personal preference, and it's very easy.
The four custom hotkeys I have are:
Insert at video time (after), Insert (after), Set Start to Current Frame and Set End To Current Frame.

1. To create your own new hotkeys, go to the Options Bar "View > Options"
2. Click on the "Hotkeys" tab under Interface. 3. Click the "New" button in the top right corner to make a new Hotkey. 4. In the "Hotkey" box, enter what keys you want to bind it to. (Use one that is not already bind and is easily accessible- you can see which ones I use in the photo below). 5. In the "Command" box, enter the action you want this hotkey to preform. Insert at video time (after) - subtitle/insert/after/videotime Insert (after) - subtitle/insert/after 6. Once you're done, hit "OK" and now your new hotkeys are functioning! If you want to edit an already existing hotkey, simply select it and click the "Edit" button. |
